Which banks connect to Taiga Finance, who can sign up, and what it runs on.

Taiga Finance connects to banks in the United States through Plaid, and it is for people who live there. A bank that doesn’t connect can still be tracked by hand or from its statements. Taiga Finance runs in a web browser on a computer or a phone, and a phone can add it to its home screen. There is no app in the app stores yet. The trial and the price are on Plans & billing.

Plaid connects institutions in the United States only. Its window lists the institutions it can read transactions from. Searching for your bank there, during Connect a bank, is how to find out whether it connects. Investment holdings and card and loan details come through the same connection, where the institution shares them.

A bank that doesn’t connect can still be tracked. Track manually, in the Add an account chooser on Accounts, creates an account whose balance you record yourself. See Manual accounts. Its transactions load from a CSV download or a PDF statement on the Import page. CSV & PDF importers lists every file Taiga Finance reads.

Can I use Taiga Finance if I live outside the US?

No. The Terms of Service require that you live in the United States, and the Privacy Policy states that the service is for adults in the United States.

Can I use Taiga Finance without connecting a bank?

Section titled “Can I use Taiga Finance without connecting a bank?”

Yes. A household can run on manual accounts and imported files alone, or mix them with connections account by account. A connection is the only kind that updates on its own. Import your first data walks a first import.

Not in the app stores yet. Taiga Finance runs in a phone’s browser, with the same pages and data as on a computer. Native phone apps are planned, Android first.

A phone can add Taiga Finance to its home screen, where it opens in its own window without the browser’s address bar:

  • iPhone and iPad, in Safari. A banner at the bottom of the screen says to tap the Share button, then Add to Home Screen.
  • Android. Where the browser offers installation, such as Chrome, a banner at the bottom of the screen carries an Install button.

Closing either banner with × hides it for good in that browser. The banner doesn’t appear once Taiga Finance is installed.

No. A page fetches your data as it opens, and your financial data isn’t stored on the device. A page opened without a connection shows You’re offline with a Try again button.

Yes, as browser notifications. The Notifications row in Settings has a switch for this device and one switch per kind of alert. On an iPhone, notifications need Taiga Finance added to the home screen first, and the row says so until it is. Settings reference describes the row.
