Your account & settings
Your data: export, wipe, and delete
Take a copy of everything, empty your account, or delete it for good, and know exactly what each one leaves behind.
Everything Taiga Finance holds for you is yours to take or remove without asking anyone. Settings › Your data › Export my data downloads it all as one ZIP, and Settings › Danger zone holds the two ways out: Wipe my data empties the account and keeps you signed in, Delete my account removes your data and your sign-in and signs you out for good. Deleting is immediate and can’t be undone, and it is not quite the same as a full erasure. This page says what each control removes, what it leaves, and how to ask for the rest.
What is the difference between wipe and delete?
Section titled “What is the difference between wipe and delete?”Wipe empties. Delete ends. A wipe removes every account, transaction, budget, holding, and recurring row across your household, then leaves you signed in at a clean start, ready to reconnect. A delete removes all that and your identity too: your email and name come off the account, your sign-in stops working, and coming back means signing up again. Both ask you to type a confirmation sentence before they run, and both ask you to confirm it’s you first if you signed in a while ago.
How do I download my data?
Section titled “How do I download my data?”-
On Settings › Your data, find Export my data and click ↓ Full archive (.zip). The same button sits beside Delete my account in the Danger zone, labelled ↓ Download my data first.
-
Taiga Finance builds one ZIP containing every dataset as CSV: transactions, balance history, net worth history, holdings, equity grants and vesting, budgets, recurring items, and more. The file downloads in your browser.
-
Open the CSV files in any spreadsheet. The ZIP costs one of your ten downloads per 24 hours; past that limit the button reports Daily export limit reached. Try again later.
Taiga Finance never emails an export. If you can’t sign in, request a fresh sign-in link from the login page first; it goes to the email address on the account.
How do I delete my account?
Section titled “How do I delete my account?”-
Click ↓ Download my data first if you want a copy. The export is not available once the account is gone.
-
On Settings › Danger zone, click Delete my account. A confirmation opens and loads a preview of exactly what the delete will do.
-
Read the preview. If you share the account with someone who has their own sign-in, the dialog depends on your role. As the admin it opens with How to delete and two doors: Transfer admin to [name], then delete my sign-in, or Delete everything. As a member it lists what Stays with them and what is Deleted with you. Deleting your data spells out each door.
-
Type DELETE MY ACCOUNT (or DELETE EVERYTHING for that door) and click the confirm button. It stays greyed out until the preview has loaded, so you never confirm a blast radius you couldn’t see.
-
Taiga Finance signs you out and returns you to the login page. The delete has already completed.
What does delete remove, and when?
Section titled “What does delete remove, and when?”In one step, the moment you confirm: every row you own, the bank and Google connection credentials Taiga Finance stored, your email and name, your open sessions, and your support reports with their screenshots. Taiga Finance ends its access to your Plaid connections at Plaid and drops your usage-analytics events. If the household’s subscription ends with the account, the preview says so, and nothing more is charged.
One thing happens on Google’s side, not Taiga Finance’s: a Google Sheets connection stays granted until you remove Taiga Finance in your Google account’s permissions.
How do I request a full erasure?
Section titled “How do I request a full erasure?”-
Delete your account yourself, as above. That step is the proof that the request comes from you, so an erasure is never run on another person’s word.
-
Write to support from the email address that was on the account and say you’d like a full erasure. The address you write from has to be that one; a request from another address can’t be acted on.
-
The operator finishes the erasure on Taiga Finance’s side and replies with a list of what, if anything, remains and for how long. It completes within 30 days of your request, and in practice the same day you delete.
If you shared a household with someone who kept their account, an anonymous id stays attached to the history that moved to them (comments you wrote, household net-worth snapshots). It carries no name, email, or data.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”The delete button stays greyed out
Section titled “The delete button stays greyed out”The confirmation is still loading the preview of what the delete will do, or the preview failed. Close the dialog and open it again; the button unlocks once the preview appears.
“Your household changed while this was open”
Section titled ““Your household changed while this was open””Someone joined or left your household between the preview and your confirmation. Taiga Finance shows the fresh preview instead of running the old one; read it and confirm again.
“You share a household with someone who has their own login”
Section titled ““You share a household with someone who has their own login””A wipe empties the whole household, so it is refused while another person with their own sign-in shares it. Delete my account is the control for leaving on your own: as a member it removes only your side, and as the admin it offers the two doors.
I can’t sign in to delete or export
Section titled “I can’t sign in to delete or export”Request a fresh sign-in link from the sign-in page. It is sent to the email on the account and nowhere else. If you no longer have access to that mailbox, Sign in & security says which doors are left; until then the account stays exactly as it is.
Can I undo a delete?
Section titled “Can I undo a delete?”No. The delete runs as one step and completes before you’re signed out. Signing up again creates a new, empty account; nothing from the old one comes back. Download a copy first if you might want the data later.
Does deleting my account delete my partner’s data?
Section titled “Does deleting my account delete my partner’s data?”It depends on the door. As a member, only your own rows go; shared accounts stay with the admin and stop syncing until they reconnect them. As the admin, Transfer admin leaves them the account and Delete everything removes their sign-in and data too. The household visibility page explains who sees what while you share.
Does Taiga Finance tell my partner that I deleted?
Section titled “Does Taiga Finance tell my partner that I deleted?”Not by email. Their Recent account activity row in Settings records that the other member deleted their sign-in, and the moved accounts show in their own list, marked as needing a reconnect.
Is the export everything?
Section titled “Is the export everything?”Yes. The ZIP holds every dataset as spreadsheets, and ↓ Complete data (.json) beside it holds every underlying row you own in machine-readable form. CSV exports & Google Sheets lists what each file holds.
Does a wipe end my bank connections?
Section titled “Does a wipe end my bank connections?”Yes, on Taiga Finance’s side: the stored credentials are removed and Plaid access ends at Plaid. A Google Sheets connection still needs removing in your Google account, as above.
